R&D Update

March 14, 2025/in News from the Hangar, Uncategorized/by Chip

Sun n Fun show approaches. I just returned from our Mobile, AL build center with the TrueLite for display.

I have upgraded the panel with a Garmin 660 I found in my hangar. Bought a clip-on mount with a wiring harness for connection to the avionics power circuit.

TrueLite deliveries also begin. The first customer-ready kit will be air freighted over in time for display in our booth and delivery right after the show.

We will also have a small display in the Innovation Center test at SNF. We do not often promote some of our development work, but this space was offered to us. We will have a few posters of our hybrid and DEPOD work and a sneak peek at a couple new aircraft designs in the works. MOSAIC looms.

We are finally delivering Merlins. Took forever to sort the fuel system and then a few minor issues like the reduction drive upgrades and an exhaust crack. But now flying over 110 hours and up to 15,000 feet and still climbing! The Vtwin is an impressive engine.

As part of our European certification, we completed the testing of the Vtwin engine mount to the UL-2 standard. This was done in CZ so I am posting photos from the 32-page certification report. Now the Vtwin Merlin is certified!

I save the best for last: Our electric power system is nearly completed! The first installation is on the Merlin Lite which gets renamed the Electrolite. I hope to have some video of bench tests by the SNF show. We will off this system on the TrueLite as well.

This is the final battery pack design. You can also see the radiator for the controller and motor cooling.

Electric propulsion is fantastic in the right application. These two new electric powered aircraft will be setting new standards for enjoyable, safe, and affordable flight.

The container full of Merlins and finally, Merlin Lites is booked and will be loaded soon.

Cheers,

CHIP
